How Was Jesus Tempted, Yet Also Incapable of Sinning?

From the Show

How was Jesus tempted, yet also incapable of sinning?

The mystery of Jesus’ life is how he could really live and suffer and die as a human being, while at the same time, being God, who doesn't suffer? So, the God who can't suffer suffered. When we say that we're not contradicting ourselves, we're saying he suffered because he assumed our humanity. As God, he remained immune to suffering, incapable of suffering, and yet, that nature he assumed to himself is totally united to who he was and he is. He, the person suffered, and that's why Hebrews 4:15 can comfort us with these words: “for we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weakness, but one who in every respect has been tempted, as we are.” Think about all the ways you're tempted; tempted with greed, tempted with sex, tempted with telling a lie, and you know, all of those things he was tempted in every way, as we are, and yet without sin. — Michael Horton
