Those who were “called” were invited to the wedding feast, and Jesus is speaking here about the religious leaders who heard the message of the kingdom. Jesus is proclaiming the kingdom and they don’t want to come in to its wedding feast, they are turning away and Jesus says “tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of heaven because they didn’t turn down the wedding invitation.”
