What Will Heaven Be Like?

From the Show

What will heaven be like?

I think that we've been raised, many of us, with centuries of bad images of heaven that, no wonder people don't want to go there. Now, on one hand, the idea of, you know, going to have and bouncing on clouds, leaving your body behind, this world behind, and just sort of taking harp lessons forever, is not exactly the most exciting thing in the universe. On the other hand, I think we can be so materialistic in our culture, thinking that all that really matters is what we're doing right now. And so, “if I am going to enjoy heaven, it better be like that, just an extension of what I'm enjoying right now.” Those are two extremes I think we need to avoid….

We have no idea how cosmic, how complete, and how incomprehensible [heaven] can be. Stop thinking, I would say, in terms of heaven as a place that is not here. Realize that in the scriptures, heaven is really the kingdom of God. Wherever the king reigns, and it will be here on Earth, wherever the king rains forever, that is heaven. — Michael Horton
