Did Jesus Want A Religion Made After Him?

Jesus has a religious meal with his disciples and then he says to them, “take and eat, this is my body given for you; this cup is the New Covenant, my blood shed for the forgiveness of sins,” and then says, “do this in remembrance of me.” In other words, he is establishing a religious ritual that focuses on the gospel and his work for us that he intends his followers to keep even after he leaves.
