What Is Most Important for Making Progress in Holiness?

I think a lot of Christians today view progress in holiness as this individualistic effort. “You know, the more I’m reading books about God on my own and praying in my prayer closet and studying the Scriptures, the more I’m growing in holiness.” But the reality is there in that closet you really don’t know whether or not your progressing very much in holiness. It’s only when you get around other sinners who challenge you and make life difficult that you are really starting to see the fruit of the Spirit growing and being worked out in your own life. Another thing I would encourage is just being part of the fellowship of believers and growing together with other sinners under the ministry of the Word. Hearing God’s word preached—that’s how we are progressing in holiness. It’s not an individualistic thing. It’s a communal thing.—Adriel Sanchez
