The Lord loves a cheerful giver, and we ought to give generously to the work of the gospel—the work of the local church. As Christians, we can be sinfully stingy under the New Covenant. We can be greedy. That’s one of the primary idols in western society, the love of money. But Jesus had no problem talking about money and possessions.
