Episode 482 Show Notes

From the Show

The fact of the matter is, we as the people of God do experience suffering, and the disciples whom Jesus is speaking to there on that day in Matthew, chapter 6, many of them were going to experience suffering: famine, nakedness, sword. But you know what? Jesus has still provided for them and he has provided for you. It may not always be in the way that we expect him to provide, but you know what he has given, above all else–and this is why Paul in Romans 8 can say, “We know that he loves us”–he has given himself.

Questions in this Episode

1. My friend thinks women are not able to cut their hair or wear pants based on Deuteronomy 22:5 and 1 Corinthians 11:6. Are we supposed to follow these commands as Christians? If not, how do we make sense of these commands in the bible?

2. What version of the Bible do you use on your show?

3. I’ve heard the phrase “faith is like a muscle, the more we use it, the stronger it gets” very often in the Christian community. Is this idea found in Scripture?

4. Jesus taught us not to worry about what we shall eat or wear. Philippians 4:19 promises that God will supply all our needs. Yet, believers in other countries starve to death, because they didn’t get the food they needed. I desire to reconcile things I see with what I want to believe so that I can be confident in my trust of the Lord. He is certainly able to provide the basics for Christians, yet it seems like sometimes He doesn’t. Please help!
