Note that those who make and trust in idols start to resemble the objects of their worship. And that means that one key rule for being shaped into the image of Jesus is this. You can't worship things besides Jesus. If you do, you'll start to look like them. Your spiritual vitality will be sucked dry as you become increasingly blind, deaf, and dumb to the things of the Lord. Worshiping idols spiritually deforms you, but worshiping Jesus, setting your eyes on him spiritually transforms you into his likeness.
